Read about women World Tournament women

A little look back at this year's World Tournament There are 4 years between eachWorld Championship which makes it a long latency and high expectations. As always, it is set high expectations for your favorites. And they are perhaps those who place the greatest expectations of themselves too. This year's WT set some long term favorites aside. new shooting stars came out and as always some experienced fighters showed that the old is the oldest!

Several powerful nations are working very hard in different areas. Precisely this to come up with new fighters who are little known, but that is very good and could surprise. Big names like Imbras, Valeri Dimitrov, Tsukagoshi, Osaka, Shevchenko disappeared much faster than many expected. Perhaps the biggest surprise was when Donatas Imbras went out, but as most know, he was also injured in the legs before the tournament began. Valeri Dimitrov went out quite early also. But he also had some hard fights that left its mark as the days went by. And that is how the big tournaments are manifested. What "road" you get to the top? In the first fight the second day Valeri Dimitrov (Bul) met Nazir Nazarov (Rus) This was a long hard fight, and it held a good technical level. This fight was also a "veteran vs new blood" Dimitrov took this fight in the end,but it is importaint to say that Nazarov did not loose. No one og the two fighter could loose after given great preformence.

In the big picture are countries such as Japan and Russia for the strongest performance. But countries such as Kazakstan and Lithuania also show strong range. -even though Lithuania for many took a step back in relation to what they thought they would deliver. Mentioned are Imbras, but also Darius Gudauskas and Midauguas Pavilionis went out. Only one did shine and then take a strong 4 place ,Lukas Kubilius. The disappointment of Lithuania was rather greater in the women's side. This after the estimated world number Margarita Ciuplyte failed in the final and "only" took 2 nd place loosing to Japanese fighters Emi Shoguchi.

Only two fighters among the top 8 in the mens division was not from Russia or Japan. Kubilius mentioned, and the second fighters, from Danmark Brian Jakobsen. The Dane showed great technique, and took the victory in å long fight against Tsukagosh 9.WT champ. Hitting Tsukagosgi with sevral knees to the head, and clerary shake him with his kick/superb timing. It seemes strange that the referee took this to the weight, because this looked clear enough.

Top tree of the mens division became two Japanese fighters and Nesterenko from Russia. Nesterenko one of the favorites, did what he had too do and fought his way throught the tournament in hight pace and knock outs. Finishing of Mori Kenta Jpn and fellow contryman Yevgeniy Andrushko with Wazari/Ippon. Also this russian fighter had a very strong tournament and fought many good hardt fights. Mori Kenta had also a good tournament, but Nesterenko ended his day. Alltought many reacted to Nesterenko`s use of arms/pushing to get the right distanse before taking Kenta out. But looking away from that, Nesterenko had showed that he deserved the victory.

Nesterenko then took on Tsukamoto, and did get a teaste of his own medisine. Tsukamoto almoste contected with a knee to his face, before the "death roll"  (Do mawashi ) took Nesterenko clean out, and this hit make him lay on the tatemi for sevral minutes. But Nesterenko`s day was not over,as he took on Lukas Kubilisus for the 3.rd place. Kubilus could not put up a fight after his legs was brused up and went down during Nesterenko`s leg kicks.

The all japanese final become an anticlimaks. Muruyama was not interested to fight Tsukamoto, and after the first round Tsukamoto took the victory, and his second world tournament!

The tournament stand as a good tournament,an its easy to see that the WKO Shinkyokushin grows in size and qulity. The judges receive as usual a little criticism. The problems arise when making decisions without scores. And as all eventually know (but no one is informed about) the Judging are not the same in the 1st round as in the second round and futher in in thetournament. It is also difficult to understand why it sometimes gives a draw, while in other identical cases, there is a clear decision..
