WFKO – Road to Japan 2020

As we all know the World Fullcontact Karate Organization will host the first World Championship in Japan next year. The WFKO has systematic grown in the wake of JFKO, which has long been well established. This spring we watched the 5th JFKO All Japan Open tournament – and could confirm top level, top support. The 1st European Fullcontact Karate Championship will as we know be a selection tournament to Japan 2020. But before this, there are also a similar tournament to be held in France 19-21 September. Norwegian Summer-camp 2019

4-7th of July the Norwegian Kyokushin Organization (Shinkyokushin Norway) organized their annual summer-camp. The camp are being held every other year in Eastern Norway and in the west. This time it was on the west coast of Moi, close to Egersund town. NKO has been blessed with WKO’s top instructors for many years, and this time instructors from Poland was on the poster, and this was the first time instructors from Poland was attending at the Norwegian camp. European Championship Open weight – The road to World Championship

One week ago the final selection for the 12th World Championship was held in Prague. Besides 33 fighters in the open-weight women division the tournament also was European Championship for Cadets, Juniors and U-21 in total close to 500 competitors was gathered in the Czech Republic for EC. Results and write ups have already been done, but we like to dive into this with some thoughts from our point of view.

European Open-weight Championship 2019

In one weeks almost 500 Karatekas will be gathered in Prague, Czech Republic for the European Open weight Championship and the U-category/ cadets. Our focus are drawn to the open-weight category for women – since this is the selection for the World Tournament later on. But also on the menu Cadets, Juniors and Youth – Kata, not to forget. The Open weight category have at the time 33 fighters, from 14 nations..

The 5th All Japan Open Japan Fullcontact Karate Organisation JFKO – FINALS

Three weeks ago champions of The 5th All Japan Open Fullcontact organisation where crowned. And in the same time top fighters that will represent Japan in the 12th World Open Karate Championship later this year. In other words these top fighters will be facing the best fighters from all over the world – and when we look at the settings for the 5th All Japan Open – the tournament remind us just like the World Championship will be – thinking of the two days of fighting and the number of fights one have to fight – aiming for the top spot.

Far as we know, took his 3rd place EC medal back in 1993 and being on the podium several times after that. Top 16 in the 6th World Championship. Became the EC champion in 2018, +40 cat. (Kyokushin Union) “Open” wins trough the years as Wales Open, French Open, Danish Open and more. Also being active in other tournaments within full-contact , winner of the 18th Challenge Spirit World Championship i 2012 as one of them. Coach for the Danish national team.
