A great opportunity to kick off the new year is to participate in NORDIC OPEN 2025! What do you choose, Kata, Kumite – or both?
Nordic Open 2025 is an International Kyokushin tournament, Kumite and Kata, for children, cadets, juniors, seniors and veterans. The tournament have shown great growth, and proven that everything works very well for all parts involved.
The team behind the tournament have over ten years of history organizing this tournament. Stora Höga Kyokushin Karate, with Niklas Ballay Sensei (Referee ⇓) and his team run things really smoothly organizing this event. Three tatamis with almost no break trough the day, starting with the youngest fighters, all the fights and also the prize ceremony – before it all are being repeated – but now in a higher age category.
It’s easy to see how the tournament constantly world to improve. Almost every year / edition you will as a competitor have more possibilities and and greater sporting benefits.
The tournament is suitably for everyone, but does not apply the to elite full-contact senior practitioners with EC titles etc. But building fighters up – that’s a really good reason to join in. Especially when it comes to U-21 (full-contact) and juniors U-18 → Sweden holds a very respectable level in these categories, and will be like a window to the top level in Europe – if one want to test oneself.
The Junior divisions do also have re – qualification system. That means, you will fight for every spot i the ranking, loose first fight? -you’re still in the game in the re-qualification. The system gives the junior the most valuable experience – to enter the mat over and over again the same day. Fight-time in total are a huge goal in Nordic Open.
Kyokushin is Heavily based in the Goteborg area, this makes a wide environment to recruit competitors from. And close to the Norwegian border as well – gives the possibility to have some visitors across the border. Norway, Denmark and Sweden have traditional been in the tournament, last year did also Finland, Switzerland and Belgium enter – with a positive effect!
