Marius Ilas, one of the finest profiles we in Shinkyokushin and well known among every one practice Kyokushin Karate. Through many years he has been fighting, and many times he has been the one on the top in the different tournaments. We will bring you some videos from finals in different kind of tournaments, here we can see Marius Ilas in EC finales, WC final, Hungarian Open finals, MAX 80 finals – to name a few…!
We will start with an older video, from 2009. This is from Hungarian Open 2009, the final: Marius Ilas / Romania vs Sandor Bak / Hungary. Read more about this special tournament here
In the European Championship have we seen many many good fighters, and some of them also raised over this level with several championship wins. Valeri Dimitrov / Bulgaria. We do have to say that his record and results will never be beaten. Even beaten double world champion Tsukamoto twice. Gàbor Ròzsa / Hungary. Five times European Champion, and also winning countless other tournaments. Donatas Imbras / Lithuania five times EC Champion, 2.nd World Championship and more. Dimitar S. Popov / Bulgaria. Also five time EC Champion (in a row) And of course Marius Ilas / Romania – seven times EC Champion in the middleweight, and two third places. Out from that we will give you some of the EC finals with Marius Ilas:
In 2010 an 2011 marius Ilas meet Lithuanian fighter Andzei Milevskij in the EC final, first one from 2010..
In 2011 the same set up, and this time Andzei Milevskij fought at home court Vilnius, Lithuania. This was his last EC.
Ilas won his first EC in 2005, Denmark. We do not have video from that, but his next EC tittle in 2009 we have. This was in Ukraine, and Sandor Bak / Hungary was his opponent.
In 2009 the World Cup was held in Russia. The middleweight final brought us one Russian homefighter : Roman Nesterenko, 4th place inn the World Championship in 2007, and one of the best fighters in the heavy weight. This time the Russian fighter manage to press himself down in the middleweight category, that alone (the size difference) was a big challenge for many, and with top skills on top of that..!
Another high profiled tournament some years later in 2014 was Mazowia MAX 80. A tournament in Poland with some of the best middleweights in Europe. In the final it was a huge interest for the outcome, Ilas vs Gerard Will from Poland. Will is a very merited fighter with EC tittles (IKO1/ Kwf) and World titles (Kwf). The polish fighter was (is) a very strong fighter, and all could see that the weight advantage was of significance.. but as a top fighter you have to adapt, and change the way you solve the various challenges. And maybe from earlier experiences one can assume that Marius Ilas along with Harris Wallmen Sensei, developed a style that can neutralize this in a major way…these thoughts has been very important for the way we see a Kyokushin fights. For many it all comes down to “bang it out” this way of fighting includes the play between head and body, physically and tactically.
When this with weight has been taken up, we also have some really nice videos that bring up that.. European Championship – Open Weight! In 2013 Romania was the host of the EC Open Weight, and with Marius Ilas at line up, it was ready for for action.. Several of the best fighters was at the line up, and also from the -90 and +90 kg category. -but as we know this time open Weight. In the finals Lithuanian power house Antanas Klibavicius was ready.
In 2015 the European Open Szolnok Cup in Hungary was held. The best fighters of Europe faced the best fighters from Russia and Kazakhstan, and that was a great setting…Marius Ilas this time entered the -90 kg category, and this brought him up against fighters from other parts than Europe. In the final: Nazar Nasirov / Russia
Hungary has been the arena where many strong tournament has been held, and following up that we bring you this video, we bring you back to 2006 (oldest clip we got) The final of Hungarian Open Marius Ilas vs Magna Gergő / Hungary. this tournament also the most skilled male athletes: Marius Ilas
In Croatia the well known MEMORIJAL BRANKA BOŠNJAKA are held. We are picking up a video from the 13th edition..once again SANDOR BAK HUNGARY put up a great fight against Marius Ilas.
The last one we give you, will be the EC final from 2015. In 2013, and 2014 Ilas met Lithuaninan fighter Vytautas Cèpla inn the final. Ilas won both finals. In 2015 a new challenger was ready, Bastoiani Tengiz /Georgia
