Nazar Nasirov – Russian Open Champion!
In a two days tournament with the best Russian fighters, Nazar Nasirov was crowned as the winner of the absolute class. He also took the tameshiwari award.

Russia Open 2016 was all about Russia. Only Ilya Yakovlev, Kazakhstan, made a difference an ended at 6th place. That after loosing on weight to Artem Nazaretyan, Russia. A bout that was very even and looking for damage done many would say Yakovlev was ahead. Artem Nazaretyan on his side reached the final advancing through the tournament by beating Uleschenko, Yakovlev and Samadurov. Winning on weight seems to be the recipe for Artem Nazaretyan, slowing down his opponents with close distance fighting and sideways movement. Also going through the tournament taking inhuman hits and punishment without blocking or slowing down.Only in the final when Nazar Nasirov reached his top pace and power, it seemed hard to follow. Nazarov on his road to the final had Drozd, Beslaneev and also win against Arthur Tilov before the final.
