KYOKUSHIN OPEN  2017 Norway! 

The tournament will be held on the April 22nd, 2017.

Last year Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway attended the tournament, several organisations, styles and independent full contact practitioners joined. We will challenge you this time – who will be the next country to enter?!

And ladies – sharpen your shins, because in this tournament there will be no shin-protection in the women`s category!

Organized by the oldest Kyokushin Dojo in Norway, Bergen The Kyokushin Open have a great history of international fighting. Last year Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway attended the tournament, several organisations, styles and independent full contact practitioners joined. Only two weeks after the European Championship in Denmark, will lead us to whom the tournament aims for. Not necessarily the top level of Europe and national team members – don`t get us wrong they are very welcome, but it is a fact that the level will be more in the mid or/and up and coming fighters.

Norwegian fighters has the last years entered tournaments as Diamond cup /Belgium, Scottish Open,Swiss Open, British Open, Swedish Open, Danish Open to name some of them. If we are lucky, more nations will visit Norway in 2017 and bring us up on a higher level – in the tournament as well as nation. As said, the effort by Poland, Denmark and especially Sweden the last years, the interest of international fighting are growing. We hope that once again they will visit us, and..

Can we hope for new nations entering the strongest tournament i Norway?! We hope that it will happen, and if so it will mean a great deal to the Norwegian Kyokushin nation. Norway is a little country, and for some year back, the government banned Full Contact Karate in Norway.. this was a huge setback for all activity in the nation, and a long hard path to make it legally again started.

Looking back at international tournament held in Norway before this, countries as Lithuania, Poland, Russia, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Georgia, Romania, Belgium, Hungary, Bulgaria, Great Britain…and more was at the line up. At this time also Norwegian fighters was noticeable in the international arena.
