1424112167_afisha – KopiThis fall several World Championship will be held. One of them The 2nd Kyokushin World Union World Championship, 3-4 October, Russia. The first World Championship was held two years ago in Bulgari. This is a tournament with weight categories, and the competitions will be held in 9 weight categories among men and 5 weight categories among women. Last time the Russian dominance was complete, as expected and its drawn in the same direction this time. (results 2013) WKO / Shinkyokushin Japan are supporting the tournament, lets take a look at those fighters!

The Royama/IFK based KWU are promoting heavily “It`s time to be united” no doubt about that, but a question could be asked why the tournament are held close to some of the biggest regular World Tournaments in the world.

Japanese team, judging by the results up to now,are not the among the Japanese top elite. Naturally as the most known fighters are focused on The 11th World Karate Championship. This tournament will be held in Japan, and only held every 4 years as tradition has been since 1975.

This is a good opportunity to acquire good experiences, represent the organization and their country, and not least show willingness to support other events.

  2. Taichi Sonohara  -70kg
  3. Tsuyoshi Midori  -75kg

No doubt about that it will be a great event, all taught some of the specific rules in relation to fouls and warning will be new and a little odd for many. KWU through Royama has very strict rules when it comes to used of the hands, and specially when fighters are closinng the distance in to in fight.   “Moving towards the opponent with the aim to bring hands or body in touch with the hands or body of the opponent in order to trap his hands and prevent him striking, or unbalance him is prohibited and shall be warned and penalized” From last tournament this was a rule that many fighters from other organizations struggled with. This means in certain situations some fighters has to change his/her style noticeably. We add a video from last KWU WT rule meeting, where this topic are up to debate..
