The 12th edition of French Open gives us a new format of a tournament, interesting and a way of thinking which will benefit the athletes!

In shortly two weeks, the French Open will be held – and as mention in a new format. In a time where almost every tournament is a World Championship or an European Championship – a regular “Open” tournament have to think new to survive.

In short the system gives a guarantee for more than one fight, raises the possibility for even more. We give you the world from the organizer: Sensei Vanroyen, with the help of Shihan Pascal Rouxel.

There will be 7 categories of 6 fighters, 4 men’s categories (-70, -80, -90, +90) and 3 women’s categories (-60, -65, +65). Each category will be divided into two groups of 3, during which no hikiwake will be possible. The two 1st will meet the two second for the semi-finals. Then, the small finals and the finals will take place. The first 4 will have a trophy and the 6 fighters will be ranked with a medal for all. So everyone will fight at least 2 or 4 times. A list of reserve fighters will also be provided in case of injury to a committed fighter.
