Some fights from 2024 – we can’t get all the fights that we want, but some of them! We pick fights that we like, think have something extra, or fights/ persons we like to enlighten for a reason.. Karate Champion Of Champions KCC. The 1st edition of this tournament, and probably not the last. The format is known from other martial arts, to create a gala tournament, with handpicked athletes. A “super 8” is a perfect number, every fight is a final – and in a time perspective will benefit all involved.
This fight with Anton Zimarev / Kazakhstan vs Yuki Okada / Japan – gives us almost every element that we seek in a good fight. The main factor (for us) is that the distance is kept so little or non pushing / grabbing – clean striking, and we can enjoy the great timing and kicking abilities from these two great athletes.
JKJO All Japan Open final Rai Hayakawa / Sakura Juku vs Yota Takahashi / Takahashi Dojo. Hayakawa have been quite active, and collected some trophies. Hayakawa fought last year in 8th JFKO vs Yūta Takahashi – founder of Takahashi Dojo (Japan Karatedo Takahashi Dojo) This time Yūta i the coach as his student takes on Rai Hayakawa.
Open Kyokushin-Kan European Championship. Hugo Cruz / Spain (also Cyprus) have had a very good year: 2nd EC Shinkyokushin, 1st EC Kyokushin-Kan / Royama, 2nd EFKO EC. This fight – the semi-final in the European Championships – Kyokushin-Kan is vs Masazumi Nakayama / Japan. Nakayama – two times on the World Championship KWU podium, 17/19 – a good semi-final coming right up.
The 1st WORLD TOURNAMENT , Nakamura. Men 3rd place match Mohammad Rahimzade / Iran vs Yuya Konishi / Japan. We saw Konishi last year in a super-fight held in Poland (vs Konrad Kozubowski) Highly technical – something that come in handy in this fight with Rahimzade. Konishi at 72 kg up against the strength of Rahimzade at 94 kg.
EC Shinkyokushin. Last year, 2023, we had some of the heaviest World Championships, with some thriller matches. But we had some top class match up’s this years also. A highly interesting match between Eventas Gužauskas / Lithuania vs Goderdzi Kapanadze / Georgia. This meeting was in the EC Shinkyokushin final +90 kg.
IBKO 2nd World Cup Karate Championship (International Budo Karate Org)- Yuri Tanaka (Aka) / KWF Japan vs Yuto Fukazawa / Iwasaki Karate. This is the final in -68 kg category (from 14:30) Yuri Tanaka have been established himself as a fighter who also compete in several full-contact styles (Kick-boxing) Took the belt in the Russian WFKO (World Fighting Kyokushin Organization) Don’t mix this up with World Fullcontact Karate Organization – also named WFKO..
EFKO EC Final -60kg, Mykhailo Naumchik /Ukraine – Anar Bagirov /Azerbaijan. These categories are really hard. Insane pace and power trough the fights, and respective number of fighters in the category as well. Just a short month before this tournament, Naumchik bacame the U-21 EC champion also – meaning, that he fought two EC’s in a month – 8 fights in total – and 8 wins.. and just remember, this video and championship, is not a U-21 championship..
WORLD TEAM MATCHES Men Open FINAL IKO WORLD CUP KATOWICE 2024. Patryk Sypień / Poland vs Antonio Tusseau / France. These two have fought many times before. You have most likely seen them battle for the EC title – and yeas, both of them got several. Sypień lost the EC final vs Tusseau in 22/23 – what about this final?
9th JFKO All Japan – From this tournament we could have picked several fights, many good fighters going up against each other. Yusaku Watanabe /WKO vs Yuta Goto /MAC – two fighters who have been rivals in the top division – intense fights every time.
We enjoyed Watanabe in this years KCC – next time we would like to see Yuta Goto there as well – it should be well deserved – and e would like to see Goto vs some of the top fighters from Europe and so on – a way to reach the KCC: win the JFKO All Japan..
IKO Open-Weight EC. Alejandro Navarro / Spain have more EC titles than anyone else in IKO, and he is the reign Champion of the -90 category. Gino Cosentino / France is the reign Champion in the category below Navarro, in the -80 kg. Two champions battling for the title – a good set up for a great final.
Shinkyokushin European Open-weight Championship – In one of the quarter-finals we saw Fekete Gergely / Hungary vs Artem Akimenkov / Poland. Both these guys have been on the EC podium. Fekete in 22/23 as Akimenkov 23/24. taking into considerations that Fekete is 23, Akimenkov 21 years – young fighters that we looking forward to follow. Both active in several tournaments, always deliver solid work.
French Open – limited categories with fighters, and a pool system to give all a great experience. Several great fights, we hooked up the fight with two of our “must see” fighters: Ali Hayder / Sweden vs Data Putkaradze / Georgia. Last year both went trough their respective category in KWF World Championship – both looking unstoppable.
56th All Japan Open Shinkyokushinkai. A very strong international line up gave this tournament extra attention. A top 8 in this setting would be a very good achievement. Almost the whole top 8 are switched out from last edition, and one of the new names we notice is Keijiro Tsukamoto at 5th place. Photo: WKO Shinkyokushinkai visit for more
Reaching the 3rd place in the 9th JFKO All Japan was also a great achievement this year 2024. In the 56th All Japan Open Keijiro Tsukamoto faces Ochiai Sota in the 4th round. Both have advances trough eminent opponents. Ochiai Sota victorious over Maciej Mazur – Keijiro Tsukamoto victorious over 1st KWU World Cup runner up Daiya Katagiri. So Keijiro Tsukamoto faces Ochiai Sota..
Szymon Olpiński / Poland takes on Juan Carlos Auge / Spain in the 3rd WKB European Open. In this case the tournament had a very slim category (3 persons), but the final it worth watching. Olpiński being naturally a middleweight more or less, has been pushing himself hard going into higher weight-categories as +90 in the Polish open, or as in this case Open-weight categories – Impressive! To reach a higher level there is no short cut.
