Once again the time has come to see how the up and coming young fighters are doing. 27th and 28th of November it is time for the European Championship among the youths U22 and cadets, U16 categories. Poland will be the host of the championship, as we know from before that`s means quality. This will be the 7th time the U22 is arranged, and the tournament has been a important factor to recruit younger fighters in the European Championship (adults) This can in many cases be a very big step. The EC U22 tournament has been build up to what it is today, and from the 1st edition several things has been changed and modified.
The 1st U22 European Championship (link) was held in Lithuania, Kaunas in 2009. At the time there was no limit in order of how many fighters each country could send to the tournament. Among 100 fighters (list) was ready, and about 80 of them came out of the host country. It was clear that a regulation was needed.
The 2nd U22 tournament (link) was also held in Lithuania, with the same guidelines as before. And also this time most of the fighters came out of the home country, so the work was still to be done. The 3rd edition was held in Poland, and this time the cadets was included. The tournament had some really high standard, and top of that a LIVE stream. This time several counties participated for the first time, and for the first time the “shape” of the tournament was done. Se results and videos here.

The 4th edition in 2012 was also held in Poland (link), and this time the European Championship Open weight was added to the concept. Once again the organizing was top notch, and the two days tournament was a success. A memorable tournament with good U16 and U22 fights, crowned with Valeri Dimitrov Open weight victory (DRAW) – as he did 10 years ago. Jimmie Collin from Sweden as the runner up.
Romania was next country to held the tournament, and up to the top level it was. Live stream as well, and the tournament was a success. The level was sky high, and for the organizer it could not be better as Marius Ilas won the open weight tournament. Full results here. Also this tournament was being streamed live. A new question started to raise in the U22 championship: Those of the U22 fighters that all ready had taken a medal in the adult championship, should they continue in the U22 or should they give the place to new fighters?
.
In 2014 the tournament was back there it started, Lithuania. High class tournament with all that a good tournament should have. This year 2015, once again Poland will held the tournament. Note that :
All world and European Adult champions(medal winners) can’t participate in the u22 championships.
