Saturday – 16^th of November 2013, European Tournament Open weight Shinkyokushinkai, located in Oradea, Romania The last big tournament of the year,and the line up with elite fighters could not been stronger… 

The organizer of this years tournament,Federatia Română de Karate Kyokushin are working hard to put together a very good championship, information and all proactive work can be seen. And let us not forget that this is a complete tournament with seniors, U22, cadets Kumite as well as Kata. Romania do also have the capacity to reach high in the tournament, this describes the overall width of the organization.

Last year, 2012 the EC Open weight was held in Poland. This was ten years since the last Open Weight tournament was held in Budapest, Hungary 2002. But if we look even further, back in 1998 the Open Weight EC was held in – Romania of course.

open weight tournaments have their own setting. One might think first of all that one can get “David vs. Goliath” battles, but there is so much more than that. For many, it is natural to look for athletes who do not usually meet, because they fight in different divisions on regular basis. Last year final between Valeri Dimitrov and Jimmie Collin was a fight of that kind, or Balogh Zsolt  vs. Margarint Dorin. And of course crossing the weight divisions can lead to different kind of tactics.

This years competitors shows a strong line up, and several well known profiles are ready. Last years two finalists Valeri Dimitrov (Bulgaria) and Jimmie Collin (Sweden) are ready. Dimitrov with his country man Vasil Vangelov who came second at the EC weight categories in June. Sweden`s Jimmie Collin alone in the open weight from Sweden. Hungary with ZSOLT BALOGH and GERGŐ PETHŐ, both well known elite fighters. From Poland MAZUR MACIEJ and Marek Odzeniak, both showing great results at their last tournaments. Odzeniak winning Branko Memorial, and Mazur advancing in All Japan Open to day two. Lithuania seems also this year to spear super fighters as Lukas Kubilius and Orest Proc, but with Vytautas Cepla and Antanas Klibavicius the level are taken good care of. Both with strong tournaments recently.

Last but not least Romaia the host country, Sorin Buciuman, Dorint Margarint and Marius Ilas. All three top fighters in EC tournamnets, Buciuman just coming p from the U22 category with good results as third in the U22 EC.
