European Championship Kwf – results

kwf_ec_201625-26th November, The Netherlands 2016, The KWF European Championship was arranged. The Kyokushin World Federation European Championship stands out from other organizations by allowing the world to participate in the EC. A somewhat special way of choosing the best European champion. And what will be the difference between a World Championship and a European Championship when it will be the same regions that enters. Anyway a great tournament, many nations and many organisations as IFK, Shinkyokushin, Rengonkai, So-Kyokushin and and more attended.

The Netherlands is a good place to arrange a tournament, especially when you need some help to pull it off. The little country have great Full-contact history, and not only in the Kyokushin relation, but in the total aspect of full-contact fighting. Whom haven`t heard about the Dutch Kick,Thai, K1 fighters?!

As mention this “European Championship” allowed the whole world to attend, so countries as U.S.A. Japan, Costa Rica,  Australia, Lebanon, Turkey was to see in the line up together with the European countries.

Several organizations was also into this tournament, and that together with world wide participation made this one, if not the biggest KWF EC up to this date since 2011 when KWF was established. Earlier it has been a challenge to fill the categories, and special the women`s categories has been poor. But this time, it was strong effort by IFK and Kyokushin-Kan / Royama that made a difference.

The EC had all ages and categories, in total almost 40 categories, all from “Old Masters +35 years, down to children age 12 year, and in Kumite and kata in all categories. Unfortunately there were several nations that did not come with the right number of athletes participating, as always creates some challenges and changes in drawing lists must bee done.
