With over 300 entries, (adults and Juniors 1998-1999) the European Championship in Georgia will be almost as big as it was last year in Poland. -and that was a remarkably high number of contenders. This will also for many of the profiles be the first international tournament since the World Championship 2015. New weight categories do we also have, and that bring some new set ups among the fighters..
Women -55 kg category, 15 fighters.
In this category we have several European Champions. The category do have a good mix of fighters from the European region, and the level will be at the very best.
⇐Isis Pinilla, Spain. European Champion in 2008/09 and she has been on the podium almost each time up to day! (not 2010 we believe) A very all rounded technical fighter with stamina to back it up. -and not to forget: several years experience fighting at the absolute top level. Represented Spain (Europe) in the World Cup, and World Championships several times. Also awarded spirit award in the European Championship (2012, Belgium) One of the favorites this year, but nothing comes for free, we all have to wait and see..
EC podium 08,09,11,12,13,15 – Isis Pinilla, Spain
Marta Lubos, Poland. Lubos is a very active fighter, and got many tournaments at top level. Was the U22 European Champion in 2013. 3r place EC senior 2014. The lightweight category in the EC relation has been very hard, with Lithuanian profiles as Rita Pivoriunaite ,Diana Maciute and Isis Pinilla, Spain , Zsófia Szabó, Hungary. Two last one Lubos has to beat this year to reach the top.. Poland`s other fighter Agata Cenkala, do not have the same profile, but Poland know what level an EC fighter should have, so Agata Cenkala will deliver whats necessary.
Hungary, with two fighters in the line up. Veronika Németh, reign U22 European Champion, and a up and coming young fighter to look out for. Routine and experience comes with the second fighter from Hungary. Zsófia Szabó, well rounded fighter with several EC podium places in the past. Will it be the top this time? Zsófia Szabó showed great skills in the 11th World Championship, when she outmaneuvered Irina Kriazheva KWU-IFK Russia, KWU World Champion, KWF World Cup champion 2013. Kriazheva outweighing her opponent with over 10 kilos, could not lock down Szabo movement and high pace fighting. Was this a preview of thing to come?
