EC Openweight 2013

This time we will take a look back at the European Championship in open weight, held in Oradea, Romania 2013. The European Championship in open-weight has always been a very interesting tournament. Not only because it is a EC with a very high level,but often fighters that not fight each other at the regular basis now comes up against each others. The line up in front of this EC was very strong and everyone speculate early on who would be the winner, and who could face who.

Mazovia MAX 80 – Back in 2014

It seems naturally to follow up the last article – MAX 70, and continue with the MAX 80, held some years later. This time, as the tittle describes, we had the pleasure to watch the middleweight fighters of Europe go up against each other. Like 2011, a very competent women division – even harder competed i an Open-weight category. Once again the Tomasz Basiak Shinkyokushin Team held a fully professional event!

Through a jungle of tournaments and championships, it becomes natural to separate some from each other. With such a diversity – but still with the same titles – one needs some insight. And one must admit that it is a bit special to see athletes attend in 3-4 World Championships in one and the same session. But there has never been so many European Championships/cup, World Championships/cups as now. As a result of this many tournaments struggle to fill their categories. Some many skilled athletes and competitors with unbelievable hard work.

Lyudmila Ustyugova, one of Kazakhstan’s many good fighters. World Champion in 2018, KWF. World Champion in 2019 this time in KWU. Improving her her result from 2017 when she came in on 3rd place. 2017 was a very noticeable year, reaching the final in the 6th World Championship weight categories WKO. The only non Japanese entering the podium. A real statement knocking down 3 time All Japan Champion Kikukawa in the semifinal and entering the upper level of lightweight fighters of the world.

Brigita Gustaitytė, Lithuania

Brigita Gustaitytė, Lithuania. The 7th World Champion in weight categories 2022. Winner of many Open tournaments as Swedish Open, Caucasus Open,Memorial Branko Bošnjak and more – and almost always reaching the podium, Shin European Championship podium as well. 2nd in the EC 2019/21. Later in 2019 she went all the way in the KWU World Championship, and became the world champion. Earlier in KWU she also made it to the final inn 2015 – and became the vice champion in the 2nd KWU World Championship. EFKO champion 2020

10 years ago: Look back at “Hungarian Open 2009”

Many said that the Hungarian Open was a tournament at such a high level, that it even could be compared to the European Championships. The tournament does not exist today in the same way, but it was arranged several times.In 2009 Hungarian Open was streamed LIVE, and with 149 competitors from 11 countries, (European countries, Russia and Kazakhstan) Four categories men and three women + Kata as well. and World Cup fighters, EC champions and more at the line up – this turn out to be a tournament way beyond the normal.
