6th World Championship – it’s on!

One day through the 6th World Championship Weight categories – Japan the home of Karate makes a strong impression, Europe and the host Kazakhstan shows top level. It is no secret that Japan is the dominated part in this tournament, the question was more in the direction of how much..

After the first day of the tournament we can make the following summary. As expected, Japan shows a very good level. They are well-spread, tactically as well as physically. Their pace seems to be something many do not manage to keep up with. Japan entered the tournament with a very strong set of favorites, where more or less everyone has fulfilled their expectations.

Especially in the women’s category was Japan very strong compared to the current results.. In the two lightest categories for women, -50 kg and -55 kg, Japan have three fighters av four in to the final day. The same for the heaviest category. Nation number two, in the number of athletes ready for day two, will be Kazakhstan. With more spots, some would see this as a naturally development in the tournament, but the number of athletes are one thing – making through to the second day also requires top level skills.

Moving in to the two heaviest categories, Europe with Lithuania and Russia bland in to the top 4. This gives us the fact that top four all over are one fighter from European region/ Lithuania and one fighter from Russia. Four fighters from Kazakhstan and Japan tops it with ten fighters.
