Training with: Hiroki Kurosawa

Stensnes/Kurosawa - Japan 2011

In relation with the 10th World Championship, traveled over 20 Norwegians to Japan. In 2007 there were three as a comparison. There is a strong improvement in the engagement and interest from Shinkyokushin Norway. Gratifying it is to see that the trip to Japan is not only used as holiday, training was on the schedule several days. One of the visits was to the legendary Hiroko Kurosawa. The training includedtraditional training Kihon, Basic and Kumite training.

Historically, in Norway has not Kyokushin had so many relations to Japan. Certainly there was contact on the organizational level, but pure training part has been somewhat absent. In 2008, visited Kenji Midori Shihan Norway (along with Sensei Koi and Sempai Yamano) In 2009, Yamada Sensei at summer camp taught us manygood things and we met many people when we were at tournaments. All these posetive meetings helps us to do the same again, and meet more people and of course the ones we've already met. This has motivated us to seek such Hiroki Kurosawa. This is an practitioner that many of us grew up with. But by seeing him on video! When we met him face to face, it became particularly great for many of us.

"To to this day, Kurosawa remains synonymous with relentless attacking and devastating low kicks. There has arguably never been a fighter before or since who was so capable of simply destroying opponents."
